Azerbaijani official stresses importance of competition cooperation among Turkic states

Strengthening cooperation among competition authorities of Turkic states is of strategic importance amid shifting global economic conditions, Azerbaijan’s antimonopoly chief Elnur Baghirov said.

Speaking at the 3rd Meeting of Heads of Competition Authorities of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) and the accompanying Competition Forum in Shusha, Baghirov said competition policy is becoming increasingly significant in the current global economic environment, Caliber.Az reports via local media. 

“Adherence to the principles of healthy competition in markets, ensuring the unimpeded operation of businesses, and improving consumer welfare contribute to stimulating innovation and ensuring long-term economic development. In this context, strengthening cooperation and coordination among the antitrust authorities of the OTS member states takes on special strategic importance,” Baghirov said.

He added that shared historical, cultural, and economic ties among member states provide a strong foundation for deeper institutional cooperation and exchange of experience.

According to Baghirov, these commonalities create favourable conditions for developing coordinated approaches to competition regulation and enhancing collaboration among national authorities within the organisation.
