Azerbaijani ombudsman condemns Armenia’s mine terror
Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva has said that while continuing to make provocations, Armenia is still planting mines in the liberated Azerbaijani lands.
The ombudsman reminded that two civilians died as a result of a mine explosion in the liberated Yusifjanli village of the Aghdam district on March 16, Report informs.
"I condemn the mine terror of Armenia, killing and ruining the health of civilians," Aliyeva added.
The ombudsman stressed that for almost 30 years, Armenia not only kept the cities and districts of the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan under occupation but also deliberately planted mines in these territories to kill innocent people.
“We regret that as a result of numerous mine explosions that occurred during the period after the liberation of our lands from occupation, a total of 286 people became victims of mine terror, and 48 of them died. However, Armenia not only refuses to give the exact maps of mines planted over the past years but continues to make provocations, and plant mines in the territories liberated from occupation, as a result of which the lives of civilians and the military are in danger. I once again call on the international community, including international organisations involved in the protection of human rights, to take a decisive position on this issue to protect human rights and freedoms,” she said.
