Azerbaijani parliament condemns Iranian drone strikes on Nakhchivan
The Commission against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (parliament) has issued a statement regarding drone attacks launched from Iranian territory on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The statement describes the attack on the republic’s sole international airport and civilian infrastructure as a violation of international law, an act of terrorism, and an infringement on Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“The commission classifies this treacherous action by Iran, which combines military, political, and informational elements, as a hybrid attack. At the same time, an information campaign in support of Iran’s actions is being conducted on Azerbaijani social media, spreading manipulative messages,” the statement reads.
The document also emphasises that these attacks were clearly intended to sow confusion and fear among citizens, undermine trust in relevant state institutions, and damage Azerbaijan’s regional standing and international reputation.
