Azerbaijani parliament speaker attends int'l parliamentary conference in Tajikistan

Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Sahiba Gafarova is on a working visit to Tajikistan to participate in the International Parliamentary Conference called to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Gafarova and heads of parliamentary delegations from other participating countries met with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on October 10, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

During the discussion, special attention was paid to enhancing cooperation among parliaments within the international and regional inter-parliamentary organisations.  

Having welcomed the guests, the president of Tajikistan spoke of the importance of this international conference. He also talked about the role of the adoption of the Constitution in the development of Tajikistan, including the strengthening of the traditions of parliamentary system in the country.

Moreover, he described the adoption of the Constitution as one of the first and sustainable steps taken towards political reforms and strengthening the country's independence.  

President Rahmon also commented on the important aspects of cooperation among the countries, including the humanitarian ties that rest on cultural and historical similarities, and emphasised that the legislative assemblies of the countries could make a serious contribution to the constructive development of this process.

The conversation also focused on the cooperation of the parliaments within international and regional inter-parliamentary entities.
