Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova has underscored the significance of regular trilateral meetings between parliamentarians from Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Northern Cyprus. She said the format helps strengthen inter-parliamentary ties and promote shared interests.

Gafarova made the remarks during a meeting in Baku with participants of the third gathering of friendship groups between the three legislatures, according to a statement from the Milli Majlis press service, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Welcoming delegations led by Speaker of the Northern Cyprus parliament Ziya Öztürkler and head of the Türkiye–Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group Shamil Ayrim, Gafarova said the ongoing dialogue contributes to deepening cooperation and reinforcing solidarity among the parliaments.

She added that the two-day discussions taking place in Baku within this framework would further advance institutional engagement and mutual understanding.

Öztürkler expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its solidarity and support, and praised the establishment of a friendship group for Northern Cyprus within the Milli Majlis.

Ayrim, for his part, stressed the importance of maintaining and expanding inter-parliamentary relations in a trilateral format.

The sides also exchanged views on a range of other issues of mutual interest, the statement said.
