Azerbaijani parliament speaker receives Hungarian ambassador
The Azerbaijani parliament speaker Sahiba Gafarova held a meeting with Hungarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Tamas Torma on April 10.
According to the parliament’s press service, Gafarova said the year 2022 marks the thirtieth anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations; our cooperation has been developing dynamically over the years, reaching the level of strategic partnership, Report informs.
She stressed the special role of reciprocal visits and meetings of heads of state as well as signed documents in this progress.
In this regard, Gafarova mentioned the signing of a joint statement on strategic partnership during the official visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Hungary on January 30 of this year - the second document on this topic.
According to the Speaker, the joint statement has raised the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary to a new level.
Referring to inter-parliamentary relations, Gafarova said that her visit to Hungary in 2021 facilitated the further expansion of relations between the legislatures of the two countries. Equally praiseworthy was the cooperation our parliamentarians maintain within international organizations, she added.
Thanking for the meeting, Ambassador Torma noted the growing importance of parliamentary diplomacy in our times, also noting the great importance of inter-parliamentary friendship groups for further development of relations between the two friendly countries and strategic partners.
Parliamentarians cooperate fruitfully under the auspices of inter-parliamentary organisations while supporting each other in the interests of our states, Torma said.
The growing interaction between Hungary and the Turkic world within the Organisation of Turkic States, where Hungary enjoys observer status, will further strengthen the positions of our countries, the Hungarian ambassador added.
The meeting also saw an exchange of views on other topics of mutual interest.
