Azerbaijani parliamentary speaker meets delegates at international judges’ session
On October 15, Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament) speaker Sahiba Gafarova met with delegates attending the 67th annual session of the International Association of Judges.
Speaking to the press, Gafarova highlighted that the current seventh convocation of the Milli Majlis was formed following the September 2024 elections, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
She noted that, for the first time since Azerbaijan’s independence, elections were held nationwide after the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity.
Farid Hajiyev, Head of the Milli Majlis Administration, emphasised the parliament’s ongoing collaboration with judicial authorities, underlining that the legislature supports a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening the judicial system.
The event also featured speeches by Sanan Hajiyev, Chairman of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Walter Baron, President of the International Association of Judges.
Guests praised the close cooperation between Azerbaijan’s parliament and the judiciary.
