Azerbaijani PM meets with UK Under Secretary of State PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov has met with Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Exports) in the Department of Business and Trade Lord Offord.
The successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the UK was underlined at the meeting, press service of the Cabinet of Ministers told AZERTAC.
The sides emphasized a rather broad agenda of interstate relations and hailed the dynamics of trade and economic cooperation.
It was noted that in 2022 the volume of trade turnover increased by more than 55 per cent and exceeded $1 billion.
At the same time, the sides highlighted the existing good opportunities for expansion and diversification of trade relations. Confidence was expressed that the 6th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held in Baku would contribute to joint efforts in this regard.
The United Kingdom, which has invested about $35 billion, was described as the largest foreign investor in Azerbaijan.
The high level of cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector was welcomed, and in this context the importance of the long-standing fruitful partnership with bp based on mutual trust was pointed out.
Energy security projects like the Southern Gas Corridor were considered as an example of successful energy cooperation.
Information was presented on Azerbaijan's plans to double gas supplies to Europe by 2027. The sides expressed hope to continue cooperation with bp in this area.
In addition, the sides discussed issues on the agenda of cooperation between the two countries in the field of renewable energy. It was noted that the 240 MW solar energy project to be jointly implemented with bp in Jabrail will make an important contribution to the realisation of efforts in the field of transition of Azerbaijan to green energy.
The UK Under Secretary of State was informed of the reconstruction and renovation works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
