Azerbaijani president’s state visit to Pakistan captures global media attention PHOTO

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's state visit to Pakistan has received widespread coverage from prominent international media outlets.

An article by The Express Tribune, titled "15 documents signed to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan," detailed the signing of various cooperation documents, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The signing ceremony, attended by President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, saw agreements on multiple fronts. These included a Memorandum of Understanding between the Foreign Ministries, and agreements on transit and preferential trade, mineral resources and geology, IT and communications, science and technology, and small and medium enterprises.

Additionally, a cultural exchange program for 2024-2029 was approved.

Coverage by The International News emphasized the mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in energy, infrastructure, transportation, and other areas. Several defence industry projects were discussed. President Aliyev stressed the importance of strengthening economic, trade, and investment ties and increasing mutual trade volumes, identifying nine initial points related to preferential trade.

Reports from Radio Pakistan, the Associated Press of Pakistan, and the News of Pakistan portal provided details on the document signings and expanded meetings attended by President Aliyev and Prime Minister Sharif.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the strong bond between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, recalling Pakistan's support during the Karabakh conflict and Azerbaijan's support for resolving the Kashmir issue.

President Aliyev acknowledged Pakistan's political support during Azerbaijan's 2020 Patriotic War and reiterated Azerbaijan's support for the rights of Jammu and Kashmir's people.

An article by Minute Mirror reported that Prime Minister Sharif announced discussions on projects worth $2 billion. He noted that an agreement would be ready for signing during his visit to Azerbaijan in November, with plans to increase this figure in the future.

Publications such as Islamad Post, Pakistan Today, and portals like The International News and Mettis Global highlighted the agreement on increasing investment volume between the two countries.

The Nation published an analytical article by renowned Pakistani commentator Tazin Akhtar, highlighting President Aliyev's visit. The article emphasized Aliyev's role as a key friend of Pakistan and the successor to Heydar Aliyev, who initiated bilateral relations.
