Azerbaijani presidential aide shares insights from diplomatic visit to Jabrayil and Zangilan

Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, has shared details of his ongoing trip to the Jabrayil and Zangilan districts with members of the diplomatic corps.

“We are visiting the Jabrayil and Zangilan districts together with members of the diplomatic corps, following in the footsteps of President Ilham Aliyev. The first stop of our trip is the village of Horovlu. Throughout the visit, we will mainly focus on the construction of the Zangezur Corridor, as well as the ongoing railway and highway projects in the region. Since the 2020 Patriotic War, this marks our 20th visit to the liberated territories together with the diplomatic corps,” Hajiyev wrote in this post on X.

On October 31, a delegation of foreign diplomats and representatives of international organisations accredited in Azerbaijan embarked on a visit to Jabrayil and Zangilan districts to observe ongoing reconstruction and development projects in the liberated territories.

During the visit, the diplomats are expected to receive briefings on the progress of restoration works and key projects carried out under the State Programme on the “Great Return.” They will also be informed about the Zangezur Corridor project, which is designed to enhance the strategic importance of the region.

The delegation’s itinerary includes visits to several major sites, including the Aghband settlement, where railway and motorway construction is underway. The program also covers significant infrastructure and social facilities, such as the Dost Agropark livestock complex in Zangilan, the Hakkari railway station, and several newly built social facilities in the city of Zangilan, including a residential complex, a school, a kindergarten, and a mosque.

Officials note that the visit provides diplomats with the opportunity to witness the scale of Azerbaijan’s reconstruction efforts, assess the region’s development potential, and observe the government’s commitment to sustainable recovery and reintegration of the liberated territories.

This marks the 20th visit of the diplomatic corps to Azerbaijan’s liberated regions, organised under the direction of President Ilham Aliyev.
