Azerbaijani representation to OSCE: Armenian provocations derail negotiation process

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to OSCE made a statement at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on Armenia's provocations and aggression aimed at frustrating the negotiation process of the peace treaty.

APA reports citing the statement that Armenia carried out an act of military provocation on May 10-11 this year, which resulted in the death of one soldier of the Azerbaijani Army, with one soldier left seriously wounded.

This provocation by Armenia right after the meeting in Washington showed that Armenia is not interested in advancing the peace agenda.

It was noted that the recent events in Armenia, in particular the so-called "trial" against the Azerbaijani military, and the installation of the monument dedicated to the terrorist operation "Nemesis" demonstrate the growth of revanchist tendencies that threaten peace and security in the region.

The statement also says that Azerbaijan, which initiated the normalisation programme and is currently carrying out large-scale reconstruction works in the territories liberated from occupation, is not interested in tension and is taking all necessary measures to prevent provocations.

It was stressed that such provocations by Armenia should be condemned by the international community, including the importance of strengthening international efforts to urge that country to pursue a peaceful agenda.
