Azerbaijani serviceman injured in mine explosion on conditional border in Nakhchivan

On December 20, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Azerbaijani serviceman Ziyad Ilgar oglu Salmanov was injured after stepping on an anti-personnel mine while carrying out service and combat duties in Sadarak district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, located along the Azerbaijani-Armenian conditional border.

After receiving initial medical assistance at the scene, the wounded serviceman was promptly evacuated to a hospital. Fortunately, his condition is not life-threatening, Caliber.Az reports citing Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway, the ministry noted.
