Azerbaijani servicemen to join Efes 2022 drills in Turkiye
The Turkish Armed Forces, with the participation of Azerbaijani servicemen, will hold the next joint military exercises Efes 2022 in the Aegean region in the second week of June.
Military personnel from 37 countries of the world, including Italy, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Albania, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the United States, will work out the skills of joint land and sea operations, as well as landing, according to Anadolu Agency.
The manoeuvres will involve an Italian frigate, a Libyan Navy gunboat, Ch-53 helicopters, howitzers, armoured vehicles and a landing ship of the US Armed Forces and other equipment.
According to sources from the Turkish National Defence Ministry, the exercises will be organized at the Doganbey training ground (Seferihisar, Izmir) and will end with the Day of Observers.
More than 1,000 foreign servicemen from 37 countries of the world will take part in the exercises.
Efes 2022 is the largest joint exercise in the Aegean region.
In 2016, eight countries took part in the Efes exercises, and in 2018 - 20 countries. This year's exercises will be the largest in history, as the number of participating countries approached four dozen.
