Azerbaijani soldiers caught in avalanche Search operations underway

Two Azerbaijani soldiers, conscripted members of the Azerbaijan Army, have been caught in a snow avalanche while returning from their service location in the Gadabay district, located in a high-altitude and challenging terrain.

The soldiers, identified as Ruslan Rustam oglu Hamidov and Ali Tariyel oglu Imanov, were caught in the avalanche amidst foggy weather conditions.

In a joint statement released by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), authorities confirmed the incident and assured that urgent measures were being taken to locate the missing soldiers, Caliber.Az reports.

Despite the adverse weather conditions, including dense fog and the difficult mountainous terrain, search and rescue operations were immediately launched. The search efforts are being carried out with the involvement of specialized forces, equipment, and personnel from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Agency of Azerbaijan's Automobile Roads, alongside contractor companies assisting in the operation.

As of now, the authorities have stated that they are making every effort to locate the soldiers. The public will be updated with further details regarding the search operations once available.
