Azerbaijani Speaker boosts parliamentary ties at global women MPs forum PHOTO
Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, held a series of meetings on the sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians in Belgrade, Serbia.
During her discussions with IPU President Tulia Ackson, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Pere Joan Pons, President of the Senate of Zimbabwe Mabel Memory Chinomona, newly elected IPU Secretary General Anda Filip, IPU Vice President Gabriela Morawska-Stanecka, Executive Committee Member Karen Bradley, Bureau President Cynthia López Castro, Vice Speakers of the House of Representatives of Morocco Nadia Touhami and Zaina Idhali, and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Mauritania Siham Najem, the importance of the Global Conference in strengthening cooperation among women parliamentarians was emphasized, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The talks also highlighted the role of multilateral platforms and focused on expanding both bilateral cooperation within international parliamentary organizations and collaboration between national legislative bodies.
Participants underscored the significance of sustained dialogue and engagement among women parliamentarians in advancing global parliamentary cooperation.
