Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with his Swedish counterpart Maria Malmer Stenergard, to discuss the current situation in the South Caucasus.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed the ongoing normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Bayramov also briefed Stenergard on the challenges facing the peace process, highlighting the territorial claims against Azerbaijan that continue to be enshrined in the Armenian constitution.

The 31st Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is being held from December 5-6, 2024, in Valletta, Malta. Hosted by the OSCE Chair-in-Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta, Ian Borg, the event brings together Foreign Ministers from the 57 OSCE participating States.

The OSCE Ministerial Council is the organization's principal decision-making body, offering a critical platform for high-level diplomatic discussions on pressing global and regional security issues. During the two-day event, Foreign Ministers will review the security situation across the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian regions and discuss the OSCE's role in addressing these challenges.
