Azerbaijani top diplomat off to Iran for ECO ministerial meeting
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has left on a working visit to Mashhad, Iran, to participate in the 28th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
Bayramov's speech at the meeting of the Council of Ministers and a number of bilateral meetings are scheduled during the visit, the Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
At this gathering, significant discussions will focus on enhancing regional connectivity, particularly through the development of road and rail networks and improving border procedures and visa regimes.
Notably, The 28th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the ECO member countries will be held in Iran's Mashhad city on December 2-3 with some 20 delegations in attendance. The meeting will provide a platform for member states to continue implementing strategic initiatives aimed at boosting regional cooperation, including through agreements on environmental and clean energy projects
The ECO is an Asian political and economic intergovernmental organization founded in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Türkiye. It currently has ten member states, which also include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Türkiye.
The organization aims to promote sustainable economic development, regional cooperation, and the integration of member countries into the global economy. Key objectives include improving trade relations, infrastructure, environmental protection, and promoting cultural exchanges.
