11 December 2024 16:47

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed the partnership between the two countries and the post-conflict situation in the region on December 11.

The two ministers also discussed the current situation in the Middle East, particularly in Syria, as well as other regional and international security issues, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.

The two sides exchanged views on the discussions held during the 31st meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Malta. Bayramov congratulated the Turkish side on the appointment of experienced Turkish diplomat Feridun Sinirlioglu as the new OSCE Secretary-General, noting that this success was warmly welcomed in Azerbaijan.

During the phone talk, the latest developments in Syria were discussed in detail. Bayramov reaffirmed Azerbaijan's support for Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty, expressing hope that the ongoing crisis would soon be resolved in a way that reflects the interests and will of the Syrian people.

The conversation also included an exchange of views on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
