Azerbaijani, Turkish military leaders hold talks on strengthening cooperation
Azerbaijani Deputy Defence Minister, Commander of the Land Forces, Colonel General Hikmat Mirzayev, and Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, Army General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu have discussed the cooperation issues during the meeting.
The meeting was held at the Turkish Ministry of National Defense as part of Mirzayev's official visit to Türkiye on January 24, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The meeting highlighted satisfaction with the current military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey, emphasizing the significant role of their partnership in regional security. The two sides also discussed the prospects for further developing their military ties. Moreover, they exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
Earlier, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, met with a delegation led by the Commander of the Turkish Air Force, Army General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu, who was on an official visit to the country.
The Turkish delegation began their visit by paying respect to national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and prominent ophthalmologist and academician, Zarifa Aliyeva, at the Alley of Honour. They also visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs' Memorial, where they laid wreaths and flowers and commemorated those killed for Azerbaijan’s independence.
At a meeting held at the Ministry of Defence, Colonel General briefed the delegation on the current operational situation along the Azerbaijani-Armenian conditional border, emphasizing that Armenia's rearmament poses a significant challenge to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
