Azerbaijani, Uzbek defence officials visit commando military unit PHOTO/VIDEO
On December 12, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defence Industry Vugar Mustafayev, and an Uzbek delegation led by Secretary of the Security Council Viktor Mahmudov and Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov visited one of Azerbaijan’s commando military units as part of an official visit.
The delegation began by laying flowers at the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev located on the grounds of the unit, honouring his memory, Caliber.Az reports via the Defence Ministry.
Colonel General Hasanov and the Uzbek officials toured key facilities, including the firing range, soldiers’ barracks, weapons room, warehouse, and canteen, where they reviewed conditions provided for service personnel. The visitors also observed a simulation system demonstrated by the Ministry of Defence Industry inside the unit’s sports hall before watching servicemen in training.
The program included demonstrations of commando activities on the mountain rappel tower and scout trail. Various unmanned aerial vehicles, weapons, vehicles, specialised equipment, and other combat systems produced by the Ministry of Defence Industry and associated companies were showcased.
The Uzbek delegation was also presented with weapons, ammunition, equipment, and combat vehicles currently in service with the Azerbaijan Army, along with detailed briefings on their tactical and technical characteristics.
According to officials, the visit holds significant importance for strengthening bilateral military cooperation, enhancing the exchange of experience, and further developing ties between the defence establishments of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
