Azerbaijani, Zimbabwean foreign ministers sign political consultations memorandum

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Amon Murwira on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the ministers discussed the bilateral agenda, prospects for expanding political dialogue and mutual support on multilateral platforms.

Bayramov congratulated Zimbabwe on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term and affirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness for close cooperation with the country during its tenure.

The meeting resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Zimbabwe on political consultations.

The memorandum is intended to provide a framework for regular political consultations between the two foreign ministries.
