Baku, Ankara discuss development of military cooperation
On December 24, Azerbaijani Deputy Defence Minister, Commander of the Land Forces, Col-Gen Hikmet Mirzayev, met with Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, Army General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of development of military cooperation, and emphasized the importance of increasing the intensity of joint exercises held to improve the knowledge and skills of servicemen of the two brotherly countries, Caliber.Az informs, citing the Defence Ministry.
During the meeting, the sides also engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views on various other issues of common interest.
To recall, last week, Azerbaijani military delegation led by Deputy Minister of Defence Agil Gurbanov participated in the 16th Azerbaijani-Turkish High-Level Military Dialogue Meeting in Ankara. During the meeting with the top Turkish defence officials, the positive impact of the two countries' friendly and fraternal ties on their military cooperation were noted. The military of the two states expressed confidence in further strengthening this collaboration.
Moreover, extensive discussions focused on enhancing military, military-technical, and military-educational cooperation, along with exploring new areas of mutual interest.
