29 April 2026 18:12

Azerbaijani Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Musa Gasimli has held a meeting with a delegation led by Mirze Edis, head of the German Bundestag working group on the South Caucasus, during which the sides discussed the successful activity of German companies in the country.

Gasimli said in 2016, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order marking the “200th anniversary of the establishment of German settlements in the South Caucasus region,” describing it as a clear example of respect and attention toward the German people, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

He made it clear that Azerbaijan places great importance on Germany’s historical and cultural heritage in the country and ensures its protection and preservation.

The meeting highlighted the dynamic development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany across various fields, with broad prospects for further deepening political, economic, and humanitarian ties.

Edis expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, noting that the development of relations between Germany and Azerbaijan in various areas benefits both sides.

He shared impressions from the delegation’s visit to the Goygol and Shamkir districts, as well as the cities of Khankendi and Shusha.

Edis also emphasised the importance of expanding interparliamentary relations and strengthening cooperation between legislative bodies, and spoke about the activities of the Bundestag and the friendship group he leads.
