Baku condemns Blinken’s statement on human rights in Azerbaijan
On December 11, 2024, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada strongly condemned and rejected the biased statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, which distorted the reality of human rights and freedoms in the country.
Blinken's statement aimed to interfere in Azerbaijan’s judicial processes, Caliber.Az reports via the ministry's press service.
"Unfortunately, due to the interference of the US State Department, led by Secretary Blinken, in Azerbaijan's internal affairs over the past four years, this period has been considered lost for Azerbaijani-American relations, which have been known for friendship and cooperation over many eras," Hajizada said.
According to the diplomat, it is well-known that Antony Blinken’s approach, marked by double standards regarding the current human rights situation in Azerbaijan, has paralyzed US policy in the South Caucasus as a whole.
"We hope that under a new US administration, the relations of friendship and partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States will be restored," the Foreign Ministry noted.
