Baku Court shows video of Levon Mnatsakanyan admitting role in Shusha occupation
At a hearing on May 22, the Baku Military Court presented archival video footage in which the defendant, Levon Mnatsakanyan, appears to admit involvement in the occupation of the city of Shusha by Armenian forces.
“During the capture of Shusha, I was part of Ashot Gulyan’s company. Our company operated on the left side of their company, towards the Shusha Fortress. Our company closely coordinated with their company," Caliber.Az quotes Mnatsakanyan as saying, per local media.
According to him, the main breakthrough of the frontline occurred in the central and left parts.
When questioned by prosecutors about the video, Mnatsakanyan denied the statements he made on camera.
The trial in Baku continues against Armenian citizens accused of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, including preparation and waging of an aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power, among numerous other charges. The next hearing is scheduled for May 23.
