Baku discloses volumes of natural resources present in Karabakh, Eastern Zangazur deposits pre-occupation

Baku has named the volumes of gold, silver and copper reserves of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur before the Armenian occupation started.

According to Caliber.Az, the Chairman of the Board of the Geological Exploration Agency of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Ali Aliyev, announced those figures amid the ongoing protests by Azerbaijani environmentalists on the Lachin-Khankendi road near Shusha against the illegal plundering of those natural resources by the Armenian side.

"The reserves in the 'Vezhnali' field amounted to 6.5 tons of gold, 10.75 tons of silver and almost 4,000 tons of copper, at the 'Demirli' field - 457,000 tons of copper, and at 'Gizilbulag' field - 13.7,000 tons of gold", he said, adding that another 112.5 tons of gold were available at the "Seyudlu" gold deposit.

Caliber.Az recalls, that the illegal exploitation of resources b the Armenian side which sparked the environmentalist protest that started in December 12 occur at the 'Demirli' and 'Gizilbulag' fields.

"However, it would be incorrect to talk about specific figures of volumes today, as it is still being evaluated how many of these reserves have been plundered during the Armenian occupation. The relevant state structures have already prepared an appeal to international organizations regarding the illegal exploitation of Azerbaijani deposits during the Armenian occupation", the chairman said.
