Baku expert: Armenia puts forward territorial claims to Azerbaijan, inventing religious narratives

Although the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict has no religious background, the Armenians, having invented religious narratives, have made territorial claims to Azerbaijan.

Centre for Analysis of International Relations Board Chairman Farid Shafiev made the remarks at the international conference "Islamophobia as a specific form of racism and discrimination: new global and transnational challenges" dedicated to the International Day against Islamophobia, APA reports.

He noted that Muslims have been subjected to certain isolations throughout history.

"Azerbaijan has been subjected to Armenia's occupation aggression for 30 years. In fact, there is neither a religious aspect nor a religious meaning in this. However, the Armenian side invents groundless religious narratives and makes territorial claims against Azerbaijan. The concept of Islamophobia also has a serious impact on the security, territorial integrity, economic and social essence of states, this is a fact," Farid Shafiev said.
