Baku Initiative Group announces launch of Global South Youth platform
The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) has announced the creation of a new international organisation aimed at strengthening youth participation in decolonisation processes across the Global South.
Abbas Abbasov, Executive Director of BIG, revealed the initiative following the international forum titled “Strengthening the Role of Youth in the Postcolonial Era,” which was held in Baku from April 30 to May 1, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“Following the successful conclusion of the two-day International Youth Forum, it is with great honour, on behalf of all participants, that we officially announce the creation of the Global South Youth Platform,” Abbasov said.
According to him, the newly established platform is intended to amplify the voices of young people and enhance their role in addressing historical and contemporary issues related to decolonisation.
The forum brought together youth representatives and stakeholders to discuss strategies for increasing youth engagement in political, social, and development processes linked to postcolonial contexts.
