Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova held a meeting with Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim to discuss the advancement of inter-parliamentary cooperation and broader bilateral relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim commended Azerbaijan’s dynamic pace of development, expressing particular appreciation for the country’s economic progress and its rising profile on the international stage. He emphasized that Malaysia warmly welcomes Azerbaijan’s achievements and is committed to further enhancing bilateral ties, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Speaker Gafarova, in turn, highlighted the enduring friendship and robust partnership between the two countries, describing them as an important foundation for expanding cooperation, including at the legislative level. She noted the importance of continued mutual support in international organizations, which both sides recognized as a cornerstone of their diplomatic engagement.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on prospects for closer inter-parliamentary cooperation, exploring avenues to strengthen legislative dialogue and institutional collaboration.
Speaker Gafarova also pointed out Azerbaijan’s recent national achievements, including major reconstruction and infrastructure projects underway in the territories liberated from occupation. She further outlined the government’s efforts to ensure the safe and dignified return of formerly displaced persons to their ancestral homes.
The meeting concluded with a comprehensive exchange of views on a range of regional and international issues of shared interest, reaffirming the strong political will on both sides to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
