Baku, Mogadishu build bridges through green energy and humanitarian talks
Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov held a meeting on July 25 with Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdisalam Abdi Ali to discuss strengthening bilateral ties, with a particular focus on investment and development.
According to the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers, the sides emphasised that Azerbaijan places high importance on deepening its relations with African countries, including Somalia, Caliber.Az reports.
The conversation highlighted the growing political dialogue and mutual support between the two nations within key international platforms, notably the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement.
The two officials also explored avenues for expanding cooperation in a range of sectors such as investment, agriculture, public services, green energy, and humanitarian aid. Both sides expressed readiness to promote joint initiatives and practical collaboration in these areas.
This high-level meeting followed discussions held a day earlier between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Somali counterpart, who is in Baku on an official visit.
During their talks on July 24, the ministers reviewed the current status of bilateral relations and outlined prospects for future cooperation. They also exchanged views on major regional and international developments.
In addition, Bayramov and Abdi Ali discussed ongoing collaboration within international organisations, reaffirming their countries’ shared commitment to multilateral engagement and coordination on global issues.
