Baku, NATO review partnership programs and military training cooperation photo
A NATO delegation led by Rear Admiral Yusuf Karagülle, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) and Head of the Partnership Directorate, visited Azerbaijan as part of the “16 Days of NATO” events held in Baku.
Ministry of Defence told Caliber.Az that the visit aimed to further develop cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, ensure the fulfilment of commitments under partnership programs, and facilitate the exchange of experience.
During the visit, the delegation held meetings at the Ministry of Defence and the Heydar Aliyev Military Institute, and visited units of the Ground Forces and the Navy. The discussions highlighted Azerbaijan’s contribution to international security, as well as the significant role played by Azerbaijani Armed Forces personnel in peacekeeping missions.
Participants also emphasised Azerbaijan’s active involvement in NATO’s Partnership for Peace program and noted the country’s achievements within the framework of the Operational Capabilities Concept.
Special attention was given to cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO in the areas of military education and training. It was stressed that the participation of Azerbaijani officers in NATO exercises contributes to improving their operational and command capabilities.
