Baku, Sikh leaders strengthen dialogue on human rights PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) hosted a meeting with representatives of the International Sikh Federation, focusing on human rights protection, interfaith dialogue, and religious freedoms.
MP Tural Ganjaliyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to cooperating with international platforms and initiatives dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
During the meeting, participants highlighted Azerbaijan’s historical experience with occupation, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and human rights violations, noting that the country understands the challenges faced by peoples and religious communities whose rights are infringed upon in various parts of the world.
Ganjaliyev underscored the importance of international cooperation in addressing such issues and promoting mutual understanding among different communities.
Moninder Singh, who heads the Sikh Federation of Canada, expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s support and stressed the significance of the federation’s work in safeguarding the rights of the Sikh community and representing the interests of the Sikh diaspora.
The discussions also covered a range of issues related to interfaith dialogue, the protection of human rights, and cooperation aimed at strengthening religious freedoms.
