Baku to convene Black Sea energy ministers for Green Corridor talks
Baku is set to host the 12th ministerial meeting on the Black Sea Energy (Green Energy Corridor) project, bringing together senior government officials from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary to advance regional cooperation on renewable energy infrastructure.
Georgia's Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, will attend the meeting, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The ministers are expected to review the feasibility study for the Green Energy Corridor project and formulate a detailed roadmap outlining the next phases of its implementation.
The meeting will also be attended by Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Hungarian State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Energy András Tótth, and Romanian Energy Minister Cristian Bușoi.
The exact date of the meeting has not yet been disclosed.
The previous, 11th Ministerial/Steering Committee meeting on the Development and Transmission of Green Energy between the Governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary was held in Tbilisi in 2025.
The participating countries signed a memorandum of understanding on July 25, 2023, establishing a joint venture to implement the Green Energy Corridor project.
The Black Sea Energy initiative envisions the construction of a 1,155-kilometre high-voltage transmission cable, comprising 1,115 kilometres of subsea cable and 40 kilometres on land. The system will operate at 525 kV with a transmission capacity of 1,300 MW. The subsea cable across the Black Sea is scheduled for completion in 2032, with the corridor expected to deliver an initial transmission capacity of 4 GW per year.
