Baku urges Armenia's condemnation for ongoing mining in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said that deliberate and continued planting landmines by Armenia in Azerbaijan's territories must be condemned.
"Two more Azerbaijani civilians severely injured as a result of landmine explosion. Some 259 people became victims since the end of war. Deliberate and continued planting landmines by Armenia in Azerbaijan's territories must be addressed and condemned!" Caliber.Az quotes Bayramov as saying on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe Fakhraddin Ismayilov shared a message on the civilians, who suffered during a mine explosion in the Aghdam district on October 8.
"Mines planted by Armenia terrorise and harm innocent people in Azerbaijan. Latest mine explosion in Aghdam District injured two more civilians. Since the end of the conflict in 2020, as many as 259 Azerbaijanis were killed or injured by mine explosions," Caliber.Az cites Ismayilov as saying on Twitter.
To recap, two people were wounded in a mine explosion during the construction of the Aghdam-Fuzuli highway on October 8.
The incident occurred in Aghdam's Yusifjanli village, Report's Karabakh bureau informs. The people injured were the employees of a road construction company.
The victims were taken to the Barda Diagnostic Centre and operated on.
The Aghdam district prosecutor's office is investigating the incident.
According to the preliminary data, 36-year-old Parviz Najafov and 33-year-old Ramin Aliyev, who were involved in repairing and constructing processes in the district, were wounded as a result of a mine explosion, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office told Report.
The mine exploded on the territory of the Aghdam district which was not cleared of mines.
Another person was wounded on October 8 when an anti-personnel mine exploded in an area in the direction of the Fuzuli-Aghdam road which was not cleared of mines, Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Caliber.Az.
A tractor used in the road construction process in the Fuzuli district liberated from the Armenian occupation hit a mine.
As a result, the tractor was damaged, no one was injured, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry told Report. The fact is being investigated.
Indiscriminate use and still ongoing placing of landmines by Armenia against Azerbaijan cause superfluous injuries and suffering. The number of victims in the last 30 years stands at 3,336, including 38 women and 357 kids. Among these 257 are victims since the 2020 War, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov earlier tweeted.
