Baku urges countries to ensure safety of Azerbaijani diplomatic missions
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Leyla Abdullayeva has urged countries to abide by the Vienna Convention and ensure the safety of Azerbaijani diplomats and diplomatic missions.
She made the remarks on September 19 to comment on the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in France, Report informs.
The spokesperson noted that in this regard, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry had already issued a statement, noting its concern about the incident, and sent the necessary message to the countries in which similar incidents occur.
"According to international law, namely, the Vienna Convention, the country in which the diplomat serves and the diplomatic mission operates is obliged to ensure the safety of the diplomatic staff and the embassy building. We called on these countries to take the necessary measures for the proper implementation of the Convention," Abdullayeva said.
"We have faced such incidents before and we have recently observed similar actions again," Abdullayeva said.
