Baku, Washington inaugurate new era of bilateral cooperation with strategic memorandum – US Embassy
The US Embassy in Azerbaijan said that Baku and Washington have officially launched a new phase in their bilateral relations following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Washington, DC, which establishes a Strategic Working Group to develop a Charter on a Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
The embassy stated that the agreement was formalized on August 8, coinciding with high-level negotiations between Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders held in Washington under the auspices of US President Donald Trump, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
These talks resulted in landmark agreements aimed at resolving the protracted conflict between the two South Caucasus nations.
The embassy emphasized that the newly established Strategic Working Group will focus on strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan.
“This step will help bolster economic ties and marks the beginning of a new stage in the economic and trade relations between the two countries,” the embassy noted.
The MoU is expected to lay the groundwork for enhanced collaboration in a range of sectors, including energy, infrastructure, digital innovation, and investment.
As part of this initiative, a high-level US business delegation is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan from September 7 to 9.
