Belarusian official explores Azerbaijan's historical sites during visit PHOTO
During her official visit to Azerbaijan, Natalia Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, toured the Icherisheher (Old City) in Baku.
Kochanova was provided with an in-depth overview of the Icherisheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Azerbaijani parliament’s Press and PR Department said, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
She was briefed on the ongoing restoration and landscaping projects being carried out within the historic area.
The Belarusian official also visited the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, a monumental masterpiece of medieval Eastern architecture and an important historical site of global significance. Kochanova’s visit concluded with a tour of the Belarusian Trade Centre in Baku, where she was introduced to its operations and engaged in discussions with the centre’s staff.
Kochanova arrived in Azerbaijan on February 18 for an official visit.
Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Musa Guliyev, head of the working group on inter-parliamentary relations with Belarus Ziyad Samadzade, and group member Khanlar Fatiyev welcomed her at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
The ambassadors of both countries, Maharram Aliyev and Dmitry Pinevich, along with other officials, were also at the airport.
During her visit, Kochanova held a series of meetings and participated in the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
