Belgian ambassador hails Azerbaijan’s hospitality after evacuation from Iran PHOTO

As the regional conflict between Israel and Iran continues to escalate, the evacuation of foreign nationals from Iran remains a pressing priority for many countries. Among those recently evacuated was Belgian Ambassador to Iran, Michel Malherbe, who crossed into Azerbaijan through the Astara border checkpoint.

“In light of recent events in Iran, our main priority is to assist Belgian citizens. We have provided support both in Iran and will continue to do so from Azerbaijan,” Malherbe said, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The ambassador expressed deep appreciation for the support extended by Azerbaijani authorities during the evacuation process.

“We are glad that Iran has such a good neighbour as Azerbaijan. We were truly touched by the sincerity and attention shown to us upon arrival here. Azerbaijan displays genuine hospitality. The bilateral relations between Belgium and Azerbaijan are strong and healthy. We are pleased to be here today and to continue our mission to ensure the safety of Belgian citizens residing in Iran. Time will tell what lies ahead.”

He further noted that Azerbaijan’s efforts reflect its internationally recognised humanitarian approach.

“The hospitality and responsiveness demonstrated by Azerbaijan deserve praise, and this once again reaffirms the country’s internationally recognised humanitarian stance.”
