Belgian envoy: EU-Azerbaijan transport partnership brings win-win benefits
Belgium’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Julien de Fraipont, emphasized that the transport partnership between Azerbaijan and the European Union generates significant economic benefits for the broader region.
As Caliber.Az reports via local media, in a post on X, the ambassador said: “Positive news that the EU and Azerbaijan strengthen cooperation in the development of connectivity projects. These are a win-win partnerships that bring economic benefits for the whole region.”
The European Union and Azerbaijan, in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, are currently developing a feasibility study for the Nakhchivan railway project. The railway is expected to become a key component of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor, connecting Europe with Central Asia.
According to the ambassador, the project is designed to enhance mobility, strengthen economic ties, and support regional development, highlighting the strategic role of transport infrastructure in fostering integration and growth across Eurasia.
