Belgian envoy hails Azerbaijan-Armenia agreement as milestone for lasting regional peace
Belgium’s Ambassador to Baku, Julien de Fraipont, has praised the recent agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the normalization of bilateral relations, describing it as a foundation for long-term and sustainable peace in the South Caucasus.
Speaking at a ceremonial reception commemorating King’s Day, de Fraipont highlighted the significance of recent confidence-building measures and infrastructure projects aimed at restoring communication links between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“I would like to congratulate the leadership of Azerbaijan for the decisive steps recently taken to improve relations with Armenia. The normalization agreement, ongoing projects to restore communications, and recent confidence-building measures create a solid basis for establishing lasting peace,” he emphasized.
The ambassador further underlined the broader regional and international benefits of the agreement, noting, “This will benefit everyone in the region and beyond, serving as a source of hope and inspiration.”
