Bilateral ties in focus as Azerbaijan, Lithuania hold political consultations
Azerbaijan and Lithuania discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation during the latest round of political consultations between their foreign ministries held in Vilnius.
The delegations, led by Deputy Foreign Ministers Fariz Rzayev and Audra Plepyte, reviewed the current state of bilateral relations during the meeting and emphasised the importance of continuing regular exchanges of visits at various levels, Caliber.Az reports via the Foreign Ministry.
The consultations also explored opportunities to broaden cooperation in trade, economic, humanitarian, scientific, and educational fields. In addition, the parties assessed prospects for collaboration within strategic energy and transport projects initiated and supported by Azerbaijan.
The two sides exchanged views on expanding the legal and contractual framework between the countries and discussed the continuation of contacts and cooperation within international organisations.
They also reviewed the current regional situation, the process of normalisation between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as large-scale reconstruction efforts and demining activities in Azerbaijan’s territories liberated from occupation.
Other regional and international issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
As part of the visit, Rzayev held meetings with other Lithuanian officials and participated in roundtable discussions organised by a Lithuanian research centre.
