Bonaire to voice anti-colonial message at Baku event ahead of UN resolution

On August 22, representatives from Bonaire Island will deliver a message to the world at an event held in collaboration with the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) as part of the ongoing fight against colonialism.

According to BIG head Abbas Abbasov, a draft resolution will be presented to the UN on behalf of the residents of Bonaire in October 2024. Before this, the island's representatives will share their message at the BIG event, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Abbasov highlighted that Bonaire's representatives specifically requested to hold the conference in Baku to bring global attention to the issues faced by the islanders under colonial rule.

“At the event, we will hear their appeal before the draft resolution is submitted to the UN,” Abbasov stated.
