Border guards ban UK’s political consultant from entering Georgia
Chairman of the Georgian opposition United National Movement party Levan Khabeishvili has said that Georgian border guards did not allow UK’s political consultant Ben Mallett to enter Georgia last week.
“Mallett was expected by members of the United National Movement party. He gives consultations on political campaigns and has great experience advising politicians, governments and companies. In particular, Mallett was a consultant to former UK Prime Ministers David Cameron (2010–2016) and Boris Johnson (2019–2022),” Gazeta.ru reports.
Khabeishvili stressed that the party is waiting for an explanation from the official authorities.
The politician said that the UK’s specialist was supposed to help the United National Movement party to gain a victory over the current “pro-Russian government” of Georgia.
Khabeishvili added that the party will continue inviting other foreign consultants to prepare for the 2024 parliamentary elections.
