Death toll in Mount Elbrus cable car accident rises to three UPDATED
The death toll from the cable car accident on Mount Elbrus has risen to three, the regional branch of Russia’s Investigative Committee reported.
Rescue teams recovered the body of the third victim during ongoing operations. The identity of the deceased is being established, while investigators continue gathering evidence at the scene.

Two people were killed in a cable car accident on Mount Elbrus in Russia's Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, local authorities confirmed on September 12.
The incident occurred on a single-chair cable car operated by the private company MKD Elbrus LLC. According to preliminary information, the accident was caused by a cable coming off the roller of one of the supports, Caliber.Az reports.
“Rescue workers are at the scene of the accident, and the bodies of the victims are being evacuated. At present, there is no information about any other casualties,” Kazbek Kokov, head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, wrote on Telegram.
He expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims and said the circumstances of the incident will be established by the relevant authorities.
Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Russia and Europe, located in the Caucasus Mountains near the border with Georgia, is a popular destination for climbers and tourists.
