Border tensions rise: Azerbaijani Army shelled by Armenian forces again
On March 18, from 16:40 to 18:30, Armenian armed forces units using small arms periodically shelled the Azerbaijan Army positions.
The attacks originated from Armenian positions located near the Almali settlement of Keshishkand region and Istisu settlement of Basarkechar region, Caliber.Az reports citing Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry.
Earlier on March 17, the Armenian Armed Forces targeted Azerbaijani Army positions with intermittent gunfire, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence.
Between 01:25 AM and 12:55 PM, Armenian military units opened fire from their positions towards Azerbaijani military positions in the directions of Yukhari Zaghali in the Basarkechar district and Digh in the Gorus district, the ministry said.
The escalation of hostilities comes after a series of attacks launched by Armenian forces on March 16 against Azerbaijani positions in the same region. The first incident occurred around 09:45 AM, when Armenian units near the Digh settlement fired upon Azerbaijani positions with small arms. The violence continued throughout the day, with a second attack at approximately 18:35, when Armenian forces near the Khazinavar settlement again targeted Azerbaijani positions with small arms fire. A third attack followed between 20:10 and 20:45, when Armenian units near the Burun settlement opened fire on Azerbaijani positions using similar weaponry.
