BP Azerbaijan: 4.3 billion barrels of oil exported to overseas markets via BTC
As much as 4.3 billion barrels of oil have been transported to world markets since the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export pipeline.
The statement was made by Colin Alan, Vice President for Financial Affairs of BP-Azerbaijan, during a speech at the annual Caspian Technical Conference (SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference) of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in Baku, Report informs.
According to him, the BTC is an infrastructure facility with high technological capabilities, which has been in operation for 17 years: “During this time, 4.3 billion barrels of oil were transported via the BTC, including, along with Azerbaijani oil, also oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.”
The opening of the pipeline took place on July 13, 2006. Its length is 1,768 km, 443 km of which passes through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 km through the territory of Georgia and 1,076 km through the territory of Türkiye.
