BP extends partnership with Azerbaijan's Olympic and Paralympic committees until 2028
The British oil and gas company BP extended its partnership with the National Olympic Committee and the National Paralympic Committee of Azerbaijan on April 9.
The 13-year partnership has been extended until the end of 2028, Caliber.Az reports.
The event included a ceremony for signing the extension of the partnership.
As company representatives reported, the cooperation began in early 2012 before the 2012 London Olympics, and was last extended in 2022.
As part of the partnership, BP also created individual development opportunities for a group of ten leading Olympic and Paralympic athletes, supporting their training and participation in international events from 2011 to 2020.
"For over 30 years, BP has been working alongside other supporters of Azerbaijan's national sports to provide more opportunities for the development of national teams and athletes, as well as successful participation in major international events. In addition to our successful partnership activities, BP has proudly supported Azerbaijan's participation in numerous major international sports events, tournaments, and championships. BP remains committed to empowering communities and supporting the development of national sports in Azerbaijan, following one of its key commitments — contributing to building a sustainable future for the nation," said BP Vice President for the Caspian region, Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli.
Since its operations in Azerbaijan, BP has financed social investment projects totaling around $111 million.
