bp opens ICT laboratory in Azerbaijan

bp opened a new laboratory at the Baku Engineering University on May 3 to support the highly qualified specialists in information and communications technology (ICT) and cybersecurity in Azerbaijan.

The company provided the laboratory with 30 pieces of modern and innovative ICT equipment and software, Report informs.

Each year approximately 1,000 teachers and students are expected to use the laboratory to improve their knowledge and skills in ICT, learn how to use innovative ICT, digital transformation, create and maintain secure and efficient information systems. This mainly applies to students specialising in Computer Engineering, ICT, Computer Science and Cybersecurity/Information Security.

“ICT is of great importance in our daily lives. Therefore, developing skills in cybersecurity, data analysis, network administration, software development and other related fields can open various career opportunities. ICT is of great economic importance as it is used in almost every field, namely e-commerce, e-governance, banking, transport, agriculture, education and medicine. The stronger the ICT capabilities and skills of the country's specialists are, the more secure its information systems will be. We hope that our project will contribute to the efforts to develop the necessary skills to ensure the country’s online security,” bp Vice President for the Caspian Region Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli said.
