Bulgaria approves draft deal to protect Azerbaijani, local investments
The Bulgarian government has approved a draft agreement with Azerbaijan aimed at promoting and protecting bilateral investments, officials said on August 13.
The move sets the stage for formal negotiations between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Bulgarian media.
The agreement is intended to encourage Azerbaijan’s investment in Bulgaria by establishing a clear legal and contractual framework for cooperation.
It will also safeguard Bulgarian investors operating in Azerbaijan, aligning protections with contemporary European standards and including mechanisms for resolving disputes.
Bulgaria regards Azerbaijan as a key economic partner and is keen to deepen ties across all areas of the traditionally strong relationship.
Bilateral engagement is underpinned by two Declarations of Strategic Partnership, with two high-level sessions already held and a third planned for late 2025.
