Cashless payments in Azerbaijan reach $4.69 billion in November 2025
The volume of cashless payments in Azerbaijan rose to 7.94 billion manats ($4.69 billion) in November 2025, marking a 14.4% increase compared to the same period last year, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
Electronic commerce accounted for 6.948 billion manats ($4.10 billion; 87.5%) of total cashless transactions. Payments made via POS terminals reached 990 million manats ($583 million), while self-service terminals processed 2 million manats ($1.18 million).
Since the beginning of the year, 67.5% of card transactions within Azerbaijan were cashless, reflecting a steady shift toward digital payments.
As of 1 December, the number of payment cards in circulation totaled 21.835 million, up 0.6% month-on-month, 9.7% since the start of the year, and 12.2% year-on-year. The number of debit cards rose by 14.7% to 19.738 million, with November transactions totaling 11.36 billion manats ($6.70 billion), while credit cards fell by 6.7% to 2.097 million, handling 685 million manats ($404 million) in transactions.
The number of ATMs in the country grew 8.5% to 3,548 units (1,918 in Baku), while POS terminals surged 57.1% to 179,162 units (111,251 in Baku).
Azerbaijan currently uses three main types of international payment systems: card, electronic, and universal. The most popular card systems globally—Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, and JCB—also cooperate with Azerbaijani banks, supporting the growing cashless economy.
